Maureen has practised regulatory law for over 15 years with international firms in London and in Dublin, including on secondment as a legal advisor to ComReg, the communications regulator. She understands fully the challenges of navigating complex and sometimes opaque regulatory rules, where national laws interface with European laws. Maureen has unrivalled experience in advising on regulatory compliance in Ireland. One of her key drivers is the challenge of advising clients who increasingly need solutions that go beyond the sectoral complexities and integrate legal options with optimum regulatory outcomes.
Maureen is a recognised expert in regulatory law, in particular in the areas of Telecoms, Energy and Broadcasting. She has advised public bodies and regulators in Ireland in complex projects in highly regulated sectors such as broadband, electricity and communications. She has also advised international clients operating in the broadcasting and communications sectors.
While practising in the UK, Maureen specialised in advising on regulation in the Energy, Water and Rail markets. She was involved in a number of high profile sector investigations, dealing with regulatory authorities including the European Commission, Ofcom, Ofgem and Ofwat (the UK’s communications, energy and water regulators respectively).
She has extensive experience in coordinating and managing large legal projects, involving cross disciplinary project teams and external expert consultants.
Maureen takes real pride in understanding her clients, their business, the industry and regulatory environment in which they operate, as well as their strategic and commercial objectives. This client focus, combined with Maureen’s expertise and experience across many regulated sectors, means that clients can expect highly bespoke and expert legal advice.
