Competition Law / Antitrust 

Maureen has significant experience in advising Irish and international clients on complex cartel investigations, before the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the European Commission.  She can provide a non-conflicted immunity and leniency service in cartel cases.

Maureen also advises clients on general competition law compliance obligations, in particular in the context of commercial relations.  She can provide strategic advice and where needed develop bespoke and effective compliance programmes and training.


Abuse of dominance

Maureen has significant experience advising on abuse of dominance investigations by national and European regulators.  She has acted both for companies with leading market positions under investigation and complainants adversely affected by anti-competitive behaviour.


Merger control, including media mergers

Maureen has been involved in many high profile merger cases, both before the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the European Commission.  Her experience includes a number of complex phase II investigations, including litigation before the General Court of the European Union. She provides strategic advice on mergers, from feasibility of transactions from a regulatory perspective, all the way through to notification to, and engagement with, relevant regulators.


State aid

Maureen has significant experience advising parties in both the private and public sector on all aspects of EU state-aid issues.  Maureen combines a detailed knowledge of State aid law and the European Commission’s approach, with a real understanding of the political dynamics at play in these cases.
